Thanks to the Martin Luther King holiday Ben and I were able to take a long weekend to ourselves at the Hidden Cottage. As we sat together in the cottage with absolutely no noise we realized it had been awhile since we had been alone without our kids. It was such a sweet time to reflect with Ben about life and spend time alone with God. Our dinner suprisingly enough lasted about 25min. That was shocking. All of you who have little ones know that meals take a good 1-2hrs.
Well, this time away gave me a chance to reflect and be set anew as a couple and as an individual.
I was reminded how easy it is to live life in survival mode. Getting those things that need to get done, done. I am realizing more and more the reality and the wisdom in being intentional. Those 2 words are powerful and take commitment and time. Being intentional in our marriage. Not settling for the hi how are you? or how was your day? chats. Being intentional as a parent. To cherish those in between moments that make me want to stop time and put a period at the end of it. Aiden's whole body smiled as he caught a glimpse of me. Being intentional for God. To take a moment and ask the cashier how is her day and here's the clencher and really be interested.
So I left, set anew to be intentional with my husband, my children, my family, my God, my friends and strangers who cross my path.
